The Government of Quebec is extending the temporary administration of the private residential and long-term care centers (CHSLDs) of Floralies-de-Lasalle and Floralies-de-Lachine, located in the southwest of Montreal.
An investigation report commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) revealed last fall that abuse in all its forms had taken place inside the two CHSLDs located in the boroughs of LaSalle and Lachine. The report notably mentioned dehydrated residents and signs of physical violence.
The Integrated Center for University Health and Social Services of the West Island of Montreal (CIUSSS) has by subsequently ensured that the orderlies who committed these acts were fired.
Since September 1, the CIUSSS has been in charge of the provisional administration of the two private establishments.
In a press release published Tuesday, the Minister for Health and Seniors, Sonia Bélanger, reports that this provisional administration has made it possible to deploy the necessary means to improve the care and services offered to people staying at the Floralies.
In his opinion, it is necessary to continue it to continue the recovery work started by the CIUSSS.
