Capcom is very proud to announce today that its license horror Resident Evil is gone in 2020 to more than 100 million copies around the world. Recall that the first episode has seen the light of day in 1996 on the PlayStation, and has clearly laid the foundation for a new kind of survival horror.

100 million sales for the saga Resident Evil
A few days ago, Capcom formalized the all-new Resident Evil Village, the eighth episode of its licence born in 1996. A game that is (very) long awaited by many fans, and the output of which is set in 2021, on PlayStation 5, but also on the PC and Xbox Series X.
A first for Capcom !
At the same time, this same Resident Evil series has taken a cap fateful, since it became the first licensed Capcom to cross the threshold of 100 million sales in the world. Since 1996, fans have always been at the rendez-vous, and even if the quality of some of the opus leaves something to be desired, force is to admit that after a serious slump a few years ago, the saga has regained its luster since the launch of Resident Evil 7.
In fact, doped to the graphic engine house RE Engine, this opus marks a real revolution for the series, and the future opus Village will be the direct result of this episode featuring Ethan and his wife Mia. In the meantime, Capcom has remembered the good old days, with the recent launch of the overhaul of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

Note, however, that even Capcom is the king of recycling, with episodes launched and relaunched on many consoles and generations of machines. Resident Evil 4, for example, was launched on GameCube, and then PS2 before being ported on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Wii U, and more recently on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
