Prague – Jiří Roček should become the new chief of the Military Police (VP), the proposal for his appointment was discussed today by the parliamentary defense committee. He will replace Otakar Foltýn, who asked to be relieved of his duties. According to the law, the head of the Defense Ministry is appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Defense after discussion in the Parliamentary Defense Committee. Foltýn headed the VP since the beginning of last July.

Defence Minister Jana Černochová (ODS) said at the committee meeting that Foltýn requested to be relieved of his duties on February 16 until the end of the month.
