Tomaszów Mazowiecki (Poland) – Speed skater Martina Sáblíková took second place in the 3000-meter race at the World Cup final in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and moved up to fifth place in the final ranking of the discipline. Just like last week in the penultimate race of the series on this track, it was not enough for Norwegian Ragne Wiklundová, who also dominated the overall classification of long tracks.

Thirty-five-year-old Sáblíková returned to racing in Poland after an injury in Calgary in December, where she cut her leg with her skates during a fall. Today she was about half a second faster in the triple than last week, but with a time of 4:05.67 minutes, she was not enough for Wiklundová either this time. The Norwegian set a new course record of 4:02.79 and beat the Czech representative by 2.88 seconds.
Twenty-three-year-old Dutchwoman Joy Beune finished third, who started in a pair with Sáblíková and won with the three-time Olympic champion. She moved to the same place in the final evaluation. Canadian Isabelle Weidemannová finished second, taking fourth place today. Before Sáblíková, who has won the World Cup on long distances thirteen times in the past, another Canadian, Ivanie Blondinová, finished in the rating.
