Riiber, the ruler of recent seasons, celebrated his return to racing by completing a golden hat-trick from the World Cup. After an illness, he was not at the start for a month, but today he stepped forward for another triumph already on the bridge. He performed a jump of 103.5 meters and was just as confident in the track. He was almost 20 seconds ahead of the silver German Julian Schmid at the finish line. Franz-Josef Rehrl from Austria finished third.
Pažout ran on the ten-kilometer course in sixteenth place, losing a minute and a half to Riiber after the jump. At the finish line, his distance from the former champion was two minutes and seven seconds. In the run, Pažout lost five places, but recorded the second best result of the season. He was nineteenth in Oberstdorf three weeks ago.
World Cup leader Austrian Johannes Lamparter buried hopes already on the bridge. After a jump of 93.5 meters, he was only seventeenth behind Pažout and in the end did not even make the top ten. She missed him by a rung. In a week on the big bridge, Lamparter will defend his title, meanwhile there will be team races in Planica.
