The Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) has launched the first issue of its new official scientific journal, “The Spanish Journal of Medicine”, which is an online publication in English, open access, quarterly periodical, which will deal mainly with topics of interest to internal medicine and to the entire scientific medical community, Both nationally and internationally.

This new chair of SEMI, whose first issue appeared in the spotlight in March 2021, will face four issues annually in which the latest scientific evidence will be analyzed and discussed through multiple approaches. Among its many other topics, it will cover new diagnostic techniques, drug therapy news, laboratory findings, and clinical trials. Original articles, reviews, guides, consensus, editorials, and correspondence will be published.
“The birth of a new scientific journal, in this case within our society, is a source of pride and satisfaction because it represents new progress and a commitment to science. The Spanish J Med will allow the publication and export of scientific knowledge valued by internal medicine in a collaborative and interdisciplinary manner and share it online and in free access, according to times and forms. Defined by today’s society, ”added the co-editor of Spanish J Med, Ricardo Gomez Hoylgas.
The magazine’s editorial committee was completed by five associate editors (Alicia Conde Martell, Jesوسs Dís Manglano, Carlos Guigaro, Carmen Suárez and Juan Ignacio Perez Calvo) and 35 professional editors from Spain and other countries, such as Argentina, Scotland, and the United States. To accept a manuscript sent to “Spanish J Med” it is necessary to go through a double-blind peer review process. Strictly, all articles will be reviewed in pairs, by experts in various fields, approved by the editorial committee and in line with the editorial policy of this new journal owned by SEMI.
These processes are carried out in accordance with international ethical standards regarding the publication of biomedical research and information, with measures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the published research.
