Bakuriani (Georgia) – Snowboarder Zuzana Maděrová took 14th place in parallel slalom at the World Championships in Bakuriani. In contrast to Sunday's race in the giant variant, this time the nineteen-year-old representative advanced to the knockout heats from the qualification, but in the first round she was not enough for the experienced Austrian opponent and later bronze medalist Sabine Schöffmann. Julie Zoggová from Switzerland won the title, Austrian Andreas Prommegger became the men's champion.

Maděrová, who is currently the team's number one alpine discipline in the absence of the convalescing Ester Ledecká, advanced from the qualification from twelfth place as the only one of the five Czech snowboarders. In the round of 16, after a promising start on the track, she made a mistake, so she avoided falling and was unable to catch up. The 30-year-old Schöffmann confirmed the role of the favorite, which, among other things, suited her by winning the opening parallel slalom in this World Cup season in Winterberg.
Even so, Maděrová improved her 30th place in the giant slalom at the World Cup premiere, her best in the World Cup is the seventh place in Bansko in January. Her national team colleagues Klára Šonková and Adéla Keclíková placed in the bottom of the top ten in Georgia, among men Kryštof Minárik took 43rd place and Adam Počinek was disqualified.
Thirty-year-old Zoggová beat Ladina Jennyová, a year younger, in the Swiss final and followed up on the title from the previous WC in Utah. At that time, Jenny won bronze in the giant slalom. In the fight for third place, Schöffmann defeated German defending silver medalist Ramona Theresia Hofmeister and won her first medal from the World Cup.
At the age of 42, Prommegger drove for his third title after dominating both disciplines in 2017 at Sierra Nevada. Two years ago, he was second in the slalom, and this year he improved his result after winning the final over compatriot Arvid Auner. Canadian Arnaud Gaudet broke the dominance of the Europeans by winning bronze.
Sunday's champions, Pole Oskar Kwiatkowski and Japan's Tsubaki Mikiová, were eliminated this time in the round of 16. In the middle of the competition in alpine disciplines, the mixed team race will finish.
