“Now it is finished,” Jean-Louis Aubert may be the last song that you upload on Google Play Music. It’s been about two years since Google prepares for the shutdown of its platform to stream music. A major milestone has been reached, it makes possible the transfer of playlists to YouTube Music. Launched in 2011, the service Google Play Music will not be closed immediately, but will be before the end of the year. The firm of Mountain View will make several announcements before its final closure.
If the transfer option is not available yet on your account it is normal, because Google operates a phased roll-out. It will then be necessary to wait for the mail which will warn when the option is enabled.
The user will transfer its data in one click
To accomplish this transfer, you will then need to open the YouTube app, Music and sign in with your Google account, and then open the pop-up window and click on the button ” transfer “. Once the manipulation is completed, the user will still be able to have access to the services of Google Play Music as long as it is still active.
Even if the procedure seems simple, it may take a few seconds to a few days depending on the amount of content transferred. YouTube Music became the new music platform by default from Google and will now be pre-installed on new Android devices at the place of its application in musical history.
The challenge for Google was especially to allow the user to store his music library, his preferences, and his playlists. To meet these expectations, Google has developed new features on YouTube Music.
On the application Google Play Music, the online storage would keep up to 50,000 songs for free. With YouTube Music the number was raised to 100,000 titles and each playlist can contain up to 5,000 songs (compared to 1,000 previously). For the lovers podcast, this part of the transfer will be done via Google podcasts.
Google Play Music included several pricing options to benefit from the music without advertising. The monthly fee for YouTube Music will be the same or 9,99 euros.
A point that should be noted regarding the storage of the online music library, in other words, for the user to import his own pieces for the store on the application. There are not many alternatives to YouTube Music. Only Amazon that offered a similar service which was shut down in 2018. As to the library of Apple, its service is paid to be able to benefit from this option. The service Plex could possibly be an alternative for this particular storage, but good practice.
