Inzell (Germany) – Nineteen-year-old speed skater Lukáš Steklý won the gold medal in the mass start race at the Junior World Championships in Inzell. During the three-day championship in Germany, he took care of the only Czech medal, his best to date was sixth in Saturday's 5,000-meter race.
Steklý followed Karolína Erbanová by winning the title, who won the last of her six gold medals from the Junior World Championships in 2012 in Japan. In the race with a mass start, the native of Brno collected 34 points, the second Canadian, Daniel Hall, had 22. His most successful participant among juniors, Jordan Stolz from the USA, rounded off the championship with a bronze.
The 18-year-old American won five races and added two bronzes. . Only fifteen-year-old Dutch Angel Daleman even collected six golds, one silver and a bronze.
