On the market that is already very competitive podcasts, Spotify wants to launch in the dissemination of video podcasts. She could be with that content stand out from the other platforms, which broadcast audio podcasts and come and nibble on the place of video platforms.
For the moment, this service is not yet deployed and is in the testing phase with the podcast Zane and Heath, already very famous on You Tube with 600,000 subscribers. Only half of the listeners of the podcast will be able to see the videos, only available for episodes: 28 to 30.
The idea is for now to reserve the video format to episodes of the podcast. We are therefore still in the early stages of this new concept. The videos are synchronized with the audio stream, the podcast will continue to be played even if the user locks the phone.
Diversify the format of its contents to a place
It should be noted that the platform You Tube already has a lot of podcasts. The fact that a music platform wants to turn propose of podcasts, video shows that everyone is trying to get a place on this market, without necessarily stay in their particular historical.
With this new service, if it becomes really operational, Spotify will directly compete with YouTube in its field. The company does not want too communicate on the strategy that it puts in place and here’s what she responds to Engadget :
“At Spotify, we regularly conduct a number of tests in order to improve our user experience. Some of these tests will eventually open the way to a user experience more wide, and others are an important learning experience. We have no other news to share for the moment. “
It would seem, however, that the platform has already built a studio in Los Angeles to facilitate the recording of these podcasts. It now remains to wait to be able to take advantage of this new service on other content.
