Prague – Today, the Czech Statistical Office will publish data on livestock production for the fourth quarter and the whole of last year. It will provide information on meat production, prices of slaughter animals and the purchase of milk. Meat production at slaughterhouses in the third quarter fell by 4.6 percent year-on-year to 110,278 tons. Pork production was the lowest in four years, prices for agricultural producers of slaughter animals rose by more than a quarter against 2021.

From the beginning of July to the end of September, domestic slaughterhouses produced 50,519 tons of pork, year-on-year production fell by 4.5 percent. In the third quarter of last year, beef production also fell by 6.2 percent to 16,152 tons. 43,578 tons of poultry meat were produced, which is four percent less year-on-year.

In the third quarter of last year, the prices of first-class broiler chickens rose the most out of the three main types of meat monitored. Producers sold them for an average of CZK 29.30 per kilogram live, which was 28.1 percent more year-on-year. Slaughter pig prices rose by 27.3 percent. Farmers received an average of CZK 35.15 per live kilogram or CZK 45.69 per kilogram of slaughter weight for them.

The prices of slaughter cattle were 26.6 percent higher year-on-year in the third quarter. Breeders sold slaughter bulls at an average price of CZK 57.32 per kilogram live or CZK 104.33 per kilogram in slaughter weight.

Last year, the price of milk also rose in the third quarter. The prices of milk producers rose by 30 percent year-on-year to CZK 11.55 per liter of quality class Q milk.
