However, NATO wants to improve relations with Russia
NATO will continue to support sanctions against Russia and will strengthen the policy of containment, however, it seeks to improve relations with Moscow. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the Munich security conference, RBC-Ukraine online reports.
According to Stoltenberg, NATO hopes to improve relations with its largest neighbour, however, always faces a more resolute policy of Russia, which seeks to strengthen the sphere of influence in the world.
“NATO hopes to improve relations with Russia, which is our biggest neighbor. NATO faces competition from the more aggressive policy of Russia, which seeks to return to the concept of spheres of influence (world politics – ed.). NATO responds to it, reinforcing deterrence and supporting sanctions against Russia, ” – said the Secretary General.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that NATO will continue to support the territorial integrity of Ukraine. NATO declared that the security situation in Ukraine is the object of constant attention of the Alliance.
In addition, the Vice-Premier Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Dmitry Kuleba said “tectonic shift” in relations between Ukraine and NATO. He added that Ukraine’s accession to NATO is a matter of time.
