There are two studies that seek to deliver a strategy for waste treatment in Chiloé. The first was by the University of Santiago de Chile, who delivered a preliminary report.
Two studies should resolve the main strategy to address a comprehensive solution for the treatment of household solid waste in Chiloé.
A first diagnosis was arranged< strong> by the municipality of Castro to the University of Santiago de Chile, which delivered a preliminary report associated with the alternatives to treat the garbage that reaches its destination.
This was explained by the person in charge from the Undersecretary of Regional and Administrative Development (Subdere), Camila Ponce.
The representative added that the second study is the responsibility of the Association of Municipalities of Chiloé, which has not yet been executed, since the first stage has not been resolved.
For this last engineering study that should define the method of treatment and deposit of garbage, there are resources in the order of 300 million pesos contributed by the Subdere.
Currently, 9 Chilota communes have municipal landfills, while Ancud, which does not have its own site, continues to send its waste to Los Angeles.
