The meeting had a high participation of authorities of public and private institutions, both national and American, European and Asian. ExpoNaval 2022 closed with the participation of more than 5,000 visitors, who delved into development and innovation in the naval and maritime industry.

On December 2, ExpoNaval 2022 closed, the largest meeting of the Latin American naval and defense industry that presented a large program focused on naval and maritime innovation and development.

The fair, located in the Puerto Valparaíso Passenger Terminal, displayed a wide range of products from the naval and defense industry in four days.

In addition, it presented the International Congress “The Challenges for a Maritime Condition in the XXI Century”, which included the participation of more than 10 speakers and panelists from America and Europe, both from the public and private sectors, with extensive experience in the naval world.

The congress, which analyzed relevant issues for the defense industry, presented two panels: “The relevance of being a maritime power”, and later “Chile and its National Oceanic Policy: Are we a Maritime Power?”. In addition, it presented spaces for conferences, in which it highlighted “Shipbuilding challenges and its contribution to the national industry”.

“This fair has always made it possible to add value to a lot of processes that we carry out in the institution (Armada). Normally, this type of meeting is held in different parts of the world, and the fact that it is held in Chile allows more sailors to participate, ask questions and be up-to-date with the latest in technology,” said the general director of Navy Services, Vice Admiral Pablo Niemann.

For his part, the executive director of ExpoNaval, Rodrigo Lobo, maintained that “the meeting gave the naval industry the opportunity to meet again, to have important activations and meetings with authorities in the field, recognized worldwide”.

Public and private institutions at ExpoNaval 2022

The exhibition of public companies and institutions, as well as the program of international talks, linked to the present and the future of the naval industry, sought to contribute to economic development and security of the participating countries, providing solutions for the correct naval operation.

Regarding ExpoNaval, the ambassador of the United States in Chile, Bernadette Meehan, congratulated FISA for the successful organization of the 2022 meeting. “We are very grateful for the welcome they have given our Navy and the collaborative project AVANTE Challenge.

“We would also like to congratulate Kallman Worldwide on the excellent U.S.A. Pavilion, which provided American businesses with the ideal platform to showcase their products and services, and make business,” Meehan added.

Similarly, Alberto Robles, Vice President of Airbus, mentioned that “as always it has been a pride and an honor to participate in ExpoNaval. We are traditional at this fair, having been present since the first edition, and I consider that its 2022 version has been a success, good luck to the organizers. Count on us for your next edition.”

Additionally, Fernanda Muñoz , Head of Projects at the Athena Lab Foundation, pointed out that “as a study center that generates content related to security, defense and international relations, we can say that our experience in this meeting has been really good, and that the organization has been excellent”.

“This year we have organized part of the conferences with important exhibitors, and we are delighted to have participated for the first time in this meeting. We hope to continue collaborating in future versions, to show our work”, added Muñoz.

Finally, Luis Kohler, Asmar’s corporate commercial manager, said that “at ExpoNaval 2022, we present everything related to Naval construction, showing the models of the products we have built. In addition, we had the model of the Icebreaker, which we will launch into the sea, and which we will deliver to the Navy in 2024”.

Facing the role of Chile In the naval industry, the event managed to promote innovation, provide tools for its development in the country, and contributed to the relationship between companies, promoting the creation of direct and indirect jobs that occur around the fair.

In this context, and given the importance of the meeting at the regional and national level, Rodrigo Lobo announced the new version of ExpoNaval 2024.

“Today, at the culmination of the naval fair and congress largest in Latin America, and after having the participation of high authorities from various countries around the world, we can affirm that Chile will be able to continue growing strongly and offer significant development at a local and international level. It is for this reason that we announce the future version of ExpoNaval 2024, inviting all companies and people to be a part of it”, stated Lobo.
