Different security measures announced by the Municipality of Zapallar before the arrival of the summer season in the area, where its floating population for the summer quadruples. Among these, one of the most extreme stands out, according to the mayor, the sanction of adults responsible for minors who travel on the streets between 2 and 5 in the morning.
In the framework of the season summer, the Municipality of Zapallar began the opening of beaches in the commune, with a series of security measures in support to promote tourism and commerce in the area.
The town hall pointed out the importance of this measure, even more so when the floating population in the coastal zone quadruples during the summer.
One of the important points announced by the mayor’s office is the implementation of a ordinance that protects the traffic of minors at night, with this they seek to punish the parents of adolescents who remain on the street between 2 and 5 in the morning.
This was stated by Gustavo Alessandri, mayor of the Zapallar commune, who classified the measures as extreme but necessary. Added to this, he pointed out that adults are not taking responsibility for their children.
& # 8220; We have had to enter into regulating issues that we would never have imagined before. For this reason, together with the Municipal Council, we seek to penalize parents or adults responsible for minors who travel alone between two and five in the morning”, said the community chief.
Likewise, the municipality reported that it will open an office for attention to victims of violent crimes, in order to protect those who have no way of defending themselves before a Public Ministry, which they accused is not necessarily on the side of the victims.
Security measures in Zapallar
Meanwhile, the captain of Puerto de Quintero, Gabriel Núñez, stated that a commitment was made in the security area with the town hall, and carried out a call to self-care.
“For the opening of the beaches, the municipality has to comply with a series of security measures, such as lifeguards. As of November 15, in the case of Zapallar, both the municipality and the maritime authority commit to deploying a series of resources for the safety of the bathers,” said Núñez.
Finally, Mayor Alessandri invited the community chiefs of La Ligua, Papudo, Cabildo and Petorca, to be part of the Association of Municipalities of the province in order to generate coordinated actions in terms of security.
Meanwhile, interconnected security booths will be installed in the municipality of Zapallar, and they announced that a change will be made to the entire fleet of municipal vehicles. They will also connect with the surveillance cameras of the condominiums in the area.
