Doha – Tennis player Karolína Muchová advanced to the second round at the tournament in Doha, defeating Italian Martina Trevisanová 6: 2, 6:2. The 26-year-old native of Olomouc did not lose a serve in the match and converted the first match point after 80 minutes. In the opening round, on the other hand, Barbora Krejčíková said goodbye, losing to Veronika Kuděrmětová after a three-hour battle. She lost to the eighth-seeded Russian 4:6, 6:3, 6:7.

Twenty-seven-year-old Krejčíková was able to equalize after losing the first set, then in the third set she eliminated the 1:4 deficit and forced a tie-break. However, she did not perform another turn in it and lost to Kuděrmětová for the second time in the third match.
Currently ranked 123rd, Muchová will face the French Caroline Garcia, who was seeded straight into the second round as the tournament's top three. Petra Kvitová also made it directly to the main competition in Doha, who will face China's Zhang Shuai in Tuesday's program of the 1st round.
The winner of the tournament from 2017, Karolína Plíšková, had to pass the qualification and, just like in January at the tournament in Adelaide, she passed it. Marie Bouzková was eliminated in the singles qualification after a 5:7, 1 defeat: 6 with another Canadian player, Rebecca Marin. In Doha, she also finished in the doubles, in which she started in the 1st round of the main competition alongside the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia.
