Mérida/Dubai – Tennis player Kateřina Siniaková advanced to the second round at the tournament in Mérida. In the first, the injured Ukrainian Lesja Curenková gave up the match at 7:5 for the 26-year-old Czech. Czech tennis player Karolína Plíšková defeated Anhelina Kalininová from Ukraine 7:5, 6:7 and 6:2 in the third round of the tournament in Dubai and advanced to the quarterfinals. In it, he can face world number one Iga Šwiateková from Poland.

Tennis player Siniaková is in the second round after Curenkova's injury in Mérida
In the previous two matches with Curenko Siniaková did not even win a set. Her first win was helped by the health problems of the thirty-three-year-old Ukrainian, who was treated for the first time at the end of the first set. At the beginning of the second match, she scratched.
Siniaková will play against Ysaline Bonaventure from Belgium to advance to the quarterfinals, in which she last appeared last September. The fourth-seeded player has a 1:1 tie with her, but they last met in 2019.

Plíšková won the first set with a break at 6:5, and the second set had a similar course. However, the former world number one did not use two match points on her own serve, and Kalinin subsequently leveled after winning 8:6 in the tie-break.
The decisive set was already directed by the thirty-year-old Plíšková. The finalist of the 2015 tournament will face Šwiateková or Lyudmila Samsonová from Russia in the quarterfinals. With Šwiateková, she lost the only mutual match so far two years ago, twice 0:6, with Samsonová she has a record of 1:1.
