Zlín – Today, the 63rd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth will begin in Zlín and will last until June 7. It will offer 295 images from 50 countries. Zlín Film Festival is the oldest and largest show of its kind in the world.

This morning, the festival will be opened by the world premiere of the feature-length animated film Tonda, Slávka and magical light directed by Filip Pošivač. At the evening opening for adult audiences, the Canadian film Billie Blue will be screened in its world premiere.

The Golden Shoe award for lifetime contribution to cinema for children and youth will be given to actor Pavel Nový at the opening of the festival today, and Zlata Adamovská will receive the award at the closing evening . Actors Tereza Ramba and Jan Cina will be stars on the Zlín Walk of Fame. As young and promising actors, the so-called Young Stars, the festival will present Antonia Formanová and Vojtěch Vodochodský.

This year, the festival does not have a special theme, but will focus more on animated films, thus commemorating, among other things, the centenary of the director and artist's birth this year Břetislav Pojar. In the newly created section of the European web series for a young audience, Scandinavian productions will be presented. Part of the festival is an accompanying program including cultural, sports and social events, as well as a half-marathon, and there is also an expert section for professionals.
