The top world event for biathletes is scheduled for February 5 to 18, 2024. The world championship will take place in Vysočina for the second time, returning there after eleven years. In 2013, the home team won one medal – the quartet of Veronika Vítková, Gabriela Soukalová, Jaroslav Soukup and Ondřej Moravec was third in the mixed relay. In a year, the biggest domestic hopes should be Markéta Davidová and Michal Krčmář.
The IBU International Federation awarded the Biathlon World Cup to the Czech Republic at the online congress in 2020. Nové Město na Moravě was then the only candidate. It is not the only top sporting event that the Czechia will host next year. The hockey world championship and cyclocross world championship in Tábor are also planned.
