Biathlon World Cup race – mixed relay, March 14, 2021 in Nové Město, Moravia.
Prague – The Biathlon Union will receive up to 75 million crowns from the state as a contribution to the organization of the World Championships next year, which will be hosted by Nové Město na Moravá. The Government has today approved the payment of this amount through the National Sports Agency. She informed about it in a press release.
The top world event for biathletes is scheduled for February 5 to 18, 2024. The world championship will take place in Vysočina for the second time, returning there after eleven years. In 2013, the home team won one medal – the quartet of Veronika Vítková, Gabriela Soukalová, Jaroslav Soukup and Ondřej Moravec was third in the mixed relay. In a year, the biggest domestic hopes should be Markéta Davidová and Michal Krčmář.
The IBU International Federation awarded the Biathlon World Cup to the Czech Republic at the online congress in 2020. Nové Město na Moravě was then the only candidate. It is not the only top sporting event that the Czechia will host next year. The hockey world championship and cyclocross world championship in Tábor are also planned.
