The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirms having found “in the last hours” the kayak of Paul-Alexander Banko, missing for a week on the St. Lawrence River , in the Pointe-au-Père area.

The SQ is still asking for the public's help and to keep an eye out, especially along the banks between Rivière-du-Loup and Rimouski.

According to SQ spokesperson Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, the boat was found with the help of information from the public.

Police recall that Paul-Alexander Banko was last seen wearing a blue life jacket and an orange coat.

Air, land and nautical searches continue off the coast of Rimouski, most certainly until dark [Friday], according to Ms. Bilodeau. Alexandre-de-Kamouraska.

Paul-Alexander Banko was last seen May 18 at Notre-Dame-du-Portage. According to those close to him, he wanted to explore the estuary islands to find rare insects.
