Čelákovice (near Prague) – The damage after Monday's fire at the furniture company's hall in Čelákovice near Prague is tentatively estimated at two million crowns, after today's investigation it may still change. Over a hundred firefighters with special equipment in the third level of the alarm extinguished the extensive fire for several hours. At 9:00 a.m., the fire department will hand over the place to the owner and the investigation will begin, fire department spokeswoman Vladimíra Kereková told ČTK.
“On Monday around 5:45 p.m., we reduced the alarm level to basic, at night the local volunteer unit supervised the fire at the site, no hidden foci have appeared. At 9:00 a.m. our investigator is supposed to meet the owner at the site, ” said Kereková. Regional fire investigators, the expert group of the Technical Institute of Fire Protection Prague and the criminal police will also meet on the spot. According to Kereková, the damage estimate may still change after the investigation.
More than a hundred firefighters were involved in the hall fire from early Monday morning. They were assisted by a special Cobra fire extinguisher, a tool for piercing and cutting materials with a water jet. Firefighters got the fire under control after about eight hours of intervention, locating it after 10:00. Around 4:00 p.m., they lowered the alert level from level three to level two. One firefighter was slightly injured in the attack. The chemical laboratory at the site temporarily measured increased values of carbon monoxide, but they were not harmful to health.
