A new study shows that the core of the Earth can flow from the center of our planet is leaking iron.
According to the authors, it is possible that the leakage occurs over billions of years. The new study was conducted by a team of scientists led by Professor of Geology Charles Loescher (Charles a fitness club) University of California, Davis. The results were presented in the journal Nature Geosciences.
According to scientists, there is a boundary between the rocky mantle of the Earth and its molten core. It is located about 2900 kilometers below the Earth’s surface, the temperature at this boundary changes more than a thousand degrees.
As scholars have noted, the sudden temperature drop at the boundary causes the leakage of heavy isotopes of iron from molten core. This occurs when the isotopes of iron to migrate to lower temperatures in the rocky mantle. Scientists believe that this may be the reason that the lowest levels of the Earth’s mantle contain heavy isotopes of iron.
