The Federal State Institution “State Central Airmobile Rescue Unit” (“Centrospas”) can begin to provide commercial services, follows from the letter of the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Andrei Gurevich to the head of the department Yevgeny Zinichev dated May 20, 2021 (Izvestia has it). In the document, the deputy minister proposed a plan to optimize the elite rescue squad and its reorganization from a state enterprise to a budget one. After changing the organizational and legal form, the company will be able to earn 74 million rubles a year, the letter says. The exact terms of the reform are not named in the document.
The change will significantly expand the activities of “Centrospas” and improve the material, technical and training base of the detachment, wrote the deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the document, rescuers will also be able to provide commercial services – for example, on a reimbursable basis to engage in medical and sanitary evacuation, medical escort of patients, inspect underwater potentially dangerous objects, service hazardous production facilities, engage in additional professional education, accompany tourists and ensure the safety of cultural events.
Also, colleagues from other rescue teams can join “Centrospas” – 80 people from Tuapse, 38 from Krasnopolyansky and 74 from the Southern Equestrian and Cynological Rescue Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The total number of the detachment will eventually amount to 762 people, indicated in the letter.
As the team’s employees told Izvestia, due to the changes, some rescuers decided to leave Tsentrospas. In the documents they provided, it is reported that from September last to May this year, 42 people left the detachment. Now the number of those dismissed may be even higher, according to employees of “Tsentrospas”.
