The number of victims has increased to 78.
On Tuesday, August 4, in the capital of Lebanon came a terrifying explosion which completely destroyed the local port in Beirut, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the First Business.
As noted by the General Director of General security major General Abbas Ibrahim, the incident happened due to the presence of explosive substances in one of the premises of the port, which detonated for unknown reasons.
Later, local law enforcement pulled back this version, but at the same time, assured the media that to regard the explosion as a terrorist attack prematurely.
Interestingly, in the Ministry of internal Affairs of Lebanon still supports version of that in the warehouses of the port exploded explosive ammonium nitrate.
Note that because of the accident around the port area swept explosive wave, which caused damage to many citizens, and destroyed the port and part of the adjacent territories. The death toll rose to 78 and injuring nearly 4 thousand people.
