Prague – Still undefeated Jardin Michelet is the biggest favorite of the Czech derby, the 103rd edition of which will take place in Chuchle Arena on Sunday. But there are also other serious candidates for the victory and a bonus of one million crowns from the total subsidy of two million crowns. There will be thirteen stallions and two mares at the start of the largest flat race in the Czech Republic for three-year-old horses.

Jardin Michelet from the Cardboard stable won the Spring Grand Prix, so he would keep his hope of winning the Classic Triple Crown with a possible victory in the Derby. In his saddle, just like at the Spring Grand Prix, will be twenty-four-year-old Adam Florian. It will be his third start in the Czech Derby, he finished fifth the year before.
Jardin Michelet's main rivals should be the top three from the June Grand Prix, which is the main test before the derby. It was won by Charpentier, followed by Stormy Awaking and Magic Merlin. The latter will have the three-time Czech Derby winner Jiří Palík in the saddle. At the Memorial JUDr. Frankenberger was impressed by Breakmoment, who immediately turned his second start into a victory.
The equestrian cast of the Czech Derby, which is run over 2400 meters, will be purely male. Portuguese native Ricardo Sousa, who won the Spanish championship twice, will travel from abroad. Charpentier's co-favorite will be led by ten-time Slovakian champion Jaroslav Línek.
The general program will also include three other races of the highest category – the Galerie Cermak Eisenkraft Sprinter Prize, the Tattersalls Mile and the Tipsport Golden Cup.
Racing the afternoon starts at 12:40 with the arrival of the mounted unit of the city police and the farewell to a pair of horses ending their service. The first race starts at 13:00, the Czech Derby is scheduled for 15:35.
