The rage for Lionel Messi has no limits. Even less in Rosario, the city where he was born, where some of the main tattoo parlors cannot cope with the requests received to immortalize the idol's face on the skin after Argentina's title in the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
“It's crazy and it's going to be crazy still… because I think I have several months to go. Although we already had quite a few daily queries, an average of 50, today we have more than 300. It's honestly exploded . We can't keep up with it,” says Maximiliano Carreras at Studio Orbe, his location in downtown Rosario.
¿ The main requests ? The image of the “Flea”, mainly raising the highly prized cup, but also of the coach Lionel Scaloni -who was born a few kilometers from Rosario-, of the goalkeeper and revelation idol 'Dibu' Martínez or of Ángel Di María, Messi's countryman.
“And then comes something simpler like the date, the last name Messi, some words that have been said in the World Cup, for example 'what are you looking at, silly' (a phrase from 'La Pulga' that went viral). What we feel here for Leo is incredible, because the fact that he is from Rosario and for the whole world fills us with pride”, he remarks.
Carreras is a tattoo artist with a 'messianic' curriculum: he was the one who tattooed last year to Antonela Roccuzzo, the wife of the '10' of the Albiceleste.”I made him three, one was for his grandfather in the leg, then I made a hummingbird on his ribs and then the ball of the 'Golden Snitch', of Harry Potter, on the back of the arm“, he explained.
It was through Instagram that the Roccuzzo family contacted their studio in which eight tattoo artists work. “We are very happy to that, that they feel trust with us“, he concluded.
