Valencia – As bestas directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen won the Goya Spanish Film Awards. The suspenseful story about the hardships of a French married couple who move to the Spanish countryside won a total of nine statuettes. It won in the categories of best film, direction, cinematography, editing or original screenplay, among others. Five statuettes were awarded to the film Modelo 77, a 1970s prison drama. Surprisingly, the film Alcarr?s by Carla Simónová, which won the Golden Bear for the best film at the festival, does not take home any prize in Berlin.

The Goya Awards are awarded by the Spanish Academy of Arts and Cinematography in three dozen categories, and its laureates receive a bronze bust of the Spanish painter Francisco Goya.
