Artists, Roxane Beaulieu, Deborah Davis and Jean-Sébastien Dutil are the finalists for the Prix Excellence Culture Estrie 2023.
The Conseil de la culture de l'Estrie unveiled the three artists on Wednesday nominated for the Prix Excellence culture Estrie.
They are musician Roxane Beaulieu, visual artist Deborah Davis and director and screenwriter Jean-Sébastien Dutil.
The award recognizes an artist, writer, artisan or cultural worker who demonstrates excellence and wishes to continue to develop in the region.
Roxane Beaulieu, who is a keyboardist and jazz pianist, was chosen for her career, which she pursues in two parts: performance and teaching. She is also the coordinator of the School of Music at the Richmond Art Center. The musician co-signs the music for the youth creation, Nora la trotteuse.
In addition to practicing engraving and various mixed techniques, Deborah Davis has founded and directs Les ateliers Dufferin where she offers training. The artist wants to marry visual arts and literature more in the coming year.
Then, Jean-Sébastien Dutil signed, as director and screenwriter, the documentary Le bien-être, in addition to confusing his company Les Productions des Lucarnes inc. In the coming months, he will focus on a second documentary about the housing crisis and will also question the importance of community organizations in our society.
The prize will be awarded on June 15. The winner will receive, among other things, a scholarship of $1,500.
