Zlín – The auction of artistically rendered film shutters today at the Zlín Film Festival brought in a record 3.771 million crowns. The Salon of film shutters was held for the 26th year, all 126 shutters were auctioned. The highest amount was auctioned for Jaroslav Němeček's clapperboard with the motif of the Four-leaf clover called Night on the Lake, the auctioneer gave 140,000 crowns for it, Zlín Film Festival spokeswoman Kateřina Martykánová told ČTK. Proceeds from the auction help finance the audiovisual works of students and budding filmmakers through the Filmtalent Zlín Endowment Fund. Last year, the flap auction brought in 3.572 million CZK.
For example, Kristian Kodet, Iva Hüttnerová, Boris Jirků, Jiří Slíva or Kateřina Miler contributed their works to this year's Salon of Film Flaps, which is a traditional part of the accompanying program of the Zlín festival. The auction took place this afternoon in the large hall of the Zlín Congress Center. “Even the artists themselves took part in it, such as Kateřina Miler, Jiří Dudycha, Zdeněk Vrba, Bára Fišerová or Martina Charvátová Skácelová. They were present at the auction itself and watched how much their works were auctioned for. Interest in the auction is increasing year by year, auctioneers today they filled the hall of the congress center,” said Martykánová.
Over the entire history of the Salon of Film Clapperboards, 2,998 artistically rendered clapboards were auctioned and a total of 48.332 million crowns were raised. The most successful is still Libor Vojkůvka's flap called Touhy polna, flap open, which an interested party bought in 2008 for 199,000 crowns.
