Prague – Today, the government approved an amendment to the Line Act, which sets a four-year deadline for granting permits for the most important constructions of highway, railway and water transport infrastructure. Transport Minister Martin Kupka (ODS) told journalists after the cabinet meeting. According to him, the amendment, which transposes the European directive into Czech law, will serve as an insurance policy, and he hopes that constructions will be permitted more quickly even without it. The law will still have to be considered by the Parliament.

The amendment stipulates that the authorities must issue a building permit within four years from the moment the investor submits all documents, including an environmental impact assessment (EIA). The adjustment will apply to important transport structures, for which the investment costs will be at least 7.5 billion crowns. The condition is not that they are part of a cross-border construction, emphasized Kupka.

According to him, the amendment could be used for some of the most important highway constructions, such as the D11, D35, D6 and D52. It should also be possible to apply it to the northern part of the Prague ring road, where, according to Kupka, the Directorate of Roads and Motorways is finalizing the preparation for the EIA assessment. buildings. “We strongly hope that we will be able to obtain those permits earlier than the four-year deadline,” he said. According to Kupka, the government aims to correct the historical debt of the Czech Republic in the construction of transport infrastructure.
