Prague – The guaranteed increase in the average salary to the level of 130 percent of the average gross monthly salary will only apply to teachers, according to the updated government statement presented by cabinet members today. The government's original program statement planned to adjust the remuneration of all teaching staff, i.e. also educators or teaching assistants. Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) told journalists today that the wording in the original statement was wrong and that the cabinet wanted to target the change at teachers from the beginning.

“This is a formulation problem that was in the original program statement and in the government's statement. The intention from the beginning was for it to concern teachers. We need to implement this commitment in practice to make the profession attractive,” he told journalists today after actions of the Fiala government.
The adjustment of teachers' wages is dealt with by the draft amendment to the Act on Pedagogical Workers and the School Act, which is currently being discussed by the Chamber of Deputies. The proposed change is criticized by trade unions in education and some organizations that They dedicate the Czech Republic.
