The house of representatives voted for the bill 38th votes to 27 on February 26 after several hours of emotional debate. The Senate passed the bill with bipartisan support in late January.
Bill 2020 was the sixth attempt by legislators over the years to get rid of the death penalty in Colorado but the first, which was a success.
Colorado voters in 1974 adopted a law on the restoration of the death penalty, four years later, he was reversed by the Supreme court of Colorado. But in 1979 the legislature passed another bill on the restoration of the death penalty.
