Prague – Sparta and Liberec ice hockey players entered the quarterfinals of the extra league playoff. Prague beat Třinec 3:2 at home in a replay of last season's final, Liberec won 4:2 in Hradec Králové after a turnover at the end of the third period.

Sparta went for success right in the first period, winning 2:0 after goals from Ostap Safin and Olavi Vauhkonen. Another goal was added by Pavel Kousal in the second half, and only after that did the Steelers prevail. Martin Růžička and Tomáš Marcinko reduced the deficit in the third period, but the visitors were unable to equalise.
Hradec Králové, which, like Sparta, advanced directly to the quarter-finals, twice led Liberec, but after conceding three goals at the end of the third period, he eventually lost.
