The immunologist predicted the beginning of the fourth wave of COVID-19 in Russia

“At the end of September, most likely, we will see a noticeable upward movement. By all indications, it should begin, unfortunately. My initial predictions were that we will fall below 15 thousand cases of COVID-19 per day, and certainly not 800 deaths, ”Kryuchkov said.

He added that the rise in the incidence rate in Russia will begin with large cities. According to the expert’s forecasts, a noticeable increase in COVID-19 cases will be recorded in early October, but the death rate will rise only after two to two and a half weeks.

Earlier, infectious disease specialist Andrei Pozdnyakov described the fourth wave of coronavirus in Russia. According to him, it will not differ much from the summer wave of morbidity, but seasonal infections may superimpose on the rise. He noted that delta will remain the dominant strain, to which delta-plus may be added.
