“This year's novelty is the Cesta ke hvězdám exhibition, which we have in our crystal. We have decided that, within the framework of the triennial, we will give space to artists under the age of 35 who work with glass. For the first year, we have chosen Miroslava Ptáčková, Tomáš Prokop and František Jungvirta, each of them approaches glass in a completely different way,” added the chief curator of the project, Petr Nový. According to him, one of the tasks of the museum is to give space even to relatively unknown names and to help young creators establish themselves.
The Triennial continues the tradition of famous jewelry exhibitions from the second half of the last century. This year's main exhibition Trendy.design.produkce will present the products of 48 companies, brands and studios not only from the Czech Republic, but also from Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Turkey. “We changed the concept of the exhibition, originally it was so that everyone had their own showcase, we sorted them alphabetically and everyone exhibited what they chose. Now we exhibit them together and we choose much more, that's why there are not as many as in the past.” added New.
For the first time, according to the Valečkova Museum, the topic of environmental protection is being addressed. “We will show glass as a 100% and endlessly recyclable material. The exhibition will be followed by a program for the public and, from autumn, also for schools, including both new knowledge about glass recycling and a workshop focused on its upcycling – that is, the use of a glass product for another purpose,” added the museum director . All exhibitions will last until November 12, then in December the museum will offer the Computer & Jewelery developing the theme of the jewelery symposium of the same name.
The Triennale is the main exhibition project of the Jablonec museum, the last one in 2020 was marked by coronavirus measures, but still attracted 21,000 visitors. Three years ago, the museum also included visitors in the evaluation for the first time, and people can vote this year as well. “Every visitor gets three stickers and can choose what they like. We will add it all up at the end and award one medal in the trend category, one for design and one in the production category,” Nový added.
