Prague – Today, the Czech currency ended trading against the euro almost unchanged, strengthening by a penny to 23.68 CZK/EUR. Against the dollar, it lost another five pennies against Wednesday's close, when it was at 22.34 CZK/USD around 17:00. This follows from data on the Patria Online server. “The forint and zloty strengthened slightly against the euro today, the koruna remained almost unchanged,” said Komerční banka analyst Jaromír Gec. According to him, the Czech currency fell behind other Central European currencies today because no macroeconomic data was published that would have an impact on it.

The koruna weakened against the dollar already on Wednesday. It then weakened by 11 pennies to 22.29 CZK/USD.

The PX index rose by 0.87 percent to 1388.55 points . The main growth driver was the shares of the energy company ČEZ, which were traded in the largest volume of all issues on the stock exchange.

ČEZ's securities achieved the most significant strengthening of the main issues, when they rose by 2.40 percent to 1,023 crowns. At the same time, they participated in the vast majority of today's volume of transactions on the Prague Stock Exchange. “With a traded volume of over 600 million crowns, CEZ shares accounted for more than 70 percent of today's total trading activity on the Prague Stock Exchange,” said a broker at Wood & Company Vladimír Vávra. Among the most traded issues, the shares of Komerční banka also strengthened, gaining 0.89 percent to 740.50 crowns.

On the other hand, the securities of the pharmacy chain Pilulka suffered the biggest decline, which fell by 3.76 percent to 640 crowns , which is their lowest price since the end of last year. For example, the securities of the tobacco company Philip Morris CR ended in the red, losing 0.69 percent to 17,320 crowns.
