Czech tennis player Karolína Muchová in the 1st round of the French Open, May 28, 2023.
Paris – The last Czech tennis player in the women's singles spider Roland Garros Karolína Muchová will play for a place in the round of 16 on Friday. In the third round, the 26-year-old native of Olomouc will face the 27th seeded Irina-Camelia Beguová from Romania in the evening. Their match was played on the third largest court of Simonne Mathieu as the last fourth in the order.
In the past two years, Muchová was eliminated on the Paris clay in the 3rd round and will face an unpopular opponent for the first round of 16 there. She has lost both of her previous matches with Begu, four years ago at Roland Garros and this year at the end of April in Madrid. “She's very uncomfortable on clay, she plays great on it. I think that's her favorite surface. But I wasn't in the best mood in Madrid,” Muchová said after Wednesday's three-set win over Nadia Podorska from Argentina.
