Concert of the German rock group Scorpions, June 7, 2023, Brno. Scorpions singer Klaus Meine.
Brno – The legendary German hard rock band Scorpions played both old hits and newer songs to thousands of fans in Brno. The rather impatient audience started rioting as soon as they saw the five musicians and they first set them up with the song Gas in the Tank, released only last year. Songs from the 1980 album Animal Magnetism Make it Real and The Zoo followed, with a long four-guitar instrumental. As at the previous stages of this concert series, the band also played their probably biggest hit from 1990, Wind of Change, which since last year has been dedicated to war-torn Ukraine, which is fighting for its freedom against Russia.

“Hello Brno? How are you?” shouted singer Klaus Meine after the second song. The group brought a spectacular light and image show to Brno, which was watched by an estimated 10,000 spectators. The audience consisted mainly of older fans, including the peers of popular musicians, but often significantly younger listeners as well. Guitarist Rudolf Schenker founded the group as a student ensemble in 1965 and as a professional band four years later in Hanover. The aforementioned singer Klaus Meine, who joined the band in the early 1970s, also came to Brno with him. Both are 75 years old this year. Despite their advanced age, their performance and arrangements captivated the fans from the beginning and they enjoyed the rock music.
Even though the musicians said goodbye to their fans ten years ago and assumed that their era was over and to give concerts they won't be anymore, they couldn't do it in the end. On the current long-term tour called Rock Believer, they are touring the whole world. They were in Zurich last Friday, in Munich on Monday. But this year they started their tour already in April, when they toured cities in South America, last fall they cruised the USA, and even before that they were in Prague. And this year is also 30 years since the band first came to the Czech Republic.
During a career spanning more than half a century, Scorpions have sold 120 million records and played over 5,000 concerts. They released the album, which bears the same name as the concert line, i.e. Rock Believer, last year.
