Prague – The leader of Together (ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL) Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS) was elected mayor of Prague today. He replaced Zdenek Hřib (Pirates) in the position. 50 out of 65 representatives of the capital city voted for Svoboda. During the vote, the opposition Praha Sobě and SPD did not support Svoboda. One representative did not vote.

Deputies will still elect five deputy mayors and five councilors today. Together, Piráti and STAN, who have a majority of 36 votes in the 65-member council, agreed on a coalition. The post-election negotiations lasted almost five months, which is the longest in the history of the Czech Republic, and were accompanied by a number of obstacles.
The Spolu coalition won the municipal municipal elections last fall, winning 19 mandates. ANO ended second with 14 mandates. The Pirates have 13 representatives and Praha Sobě 11 mandates. Five representatives were won by the STAN movement and three by the SPD. In opposition are ANO, Praha Sobě and SPD.
