Tarvisio (Italy) – A challenging 18.6 km mountain time trial will decide the winner of the 106th Gira d'Italia today. The leader's pink jersey will be defended by Briton Geraint Thomas in the penultimate 20th stage, in which cyclists climb over 1,000 meters of altitude. His biggest rival, Primož Roglič from Slovenia, is 26 seconds behind him. In the last stage on Sunday with the goal in Rome, there is traditionally no more competition for the overall standings.

Cyclists today face the track from Tarvisio with a final climb of around eight kilometers with an average gradient of 11.2 percent to the finish in Monte Lussari at an altitude of 1,766 meters. Before entering the hill, the riders will change time trial specials for classic bikes.
