Prague – The favorite of this year's Czech Music Academy (ČHA) Anděl awards is singer Miro Žbirka, considering the number of nominations. With his album Posledné veci, he appears in the categories Album, Solo performer and Slovak album. The song Nejsi sam, in which his son David Žbirka also sings, who produced the album, can become Song of the Year. Kryštof Bartoš told journalists today that he will guide the announcement of the results on April 15 in the Křižík Pavilion at the Prague Exhibition Center. Slovak singer, composer and guitarist Miro Žbirka died in November 2021 at the age of 69.

“A total of over 440 academics and experts across the music industry voted,” said Petra Žikovská, director of the Czech national group of the International Federation of the Music Industry (ČNS IFPI), which announces the awards.
Apart from Miro Žbirka, the singer 7krát3 with the album II and the band Vypsaná fixa with their Pieces of Joy also have a chance to succeed in the most watched Album category. Both 7krát3 and Vypsaná fixa can become holders of three angel statuettes this year. The 7krát3 singer is further nominated in the Solo Artist and Video Clip categories, the Written Fixa is then nominated as Group of the Year and in the Rock category. The Academy was also addressed by singer Pam Rabbit with her first single Mom, I'm Lost, thanks to which she can take Anděla as Solo performer and Objev.
The third round of voting by the ČHA, which will use its votes to decide the winners of the Anděl awards for 2022, begins today. Academicians will choose from three candidates nominated in 14 categories. The exception is the Hall of Fame, whose winner was already decided by the academy in the first round of voting.
As in recent years, the Anděl awards will include a multi-genre popularity award, announced by the titular partner of the Angels, the Coca-Cola company. Traditionally, a number of musical performances will be part of the Anděl awards ceremony. “We try to perceive the development of music in all its breadth and to convey a comprehensive experience to the guests in the hall and the viewers on the TV screens. This year, too, we are preparing an original scene and special visual support for each performance, which will support the exceptionality of the performers and the entire evening,” said the producer of the awards, Lucie Hajková “We will announce the first names who will perform live at the show in mid-March,” she added.
The Anděl awards have been awarded annually by the music academy since 1991. Since 1995, they have been realized under the auspices of the ČNS IFPI, and since 1997 they have been symbolized by the statue of Angel playing tricks by the sculptor Jaroslav Róna. The announcement of the winners of the 32nd edition will be broadcast live by Czech Television.
