Košťany (Teplicko) – The police are investigating Thursday's explosion at the plant in Košťany in Teplice as a general threat due to negligence. Teplice police spokeswoman Ilona Gazdošová told ČTK. Five people were seriously injured in the explosion. The company revises propane butane cylinders.

“The police have initiated criminal proceedings for general endangerment due to negligence,” said Gazdošová. Detectives are on the scene today, examining the fire scene. The spokeswoman said earlier that the investigation will last at least several days, it is also necessary to interview witnesses to the event, including those who were injured in the explosion.
Three people suffered very serious injuries in the explosion and were transported by paramedics to the Vinohrady Hospital in Prague to the burn center. A helicopter flew in from Prague for one person, another was transported by a helicopter from Ústí, and the third went by ambulance. The other two injured were taken by ambulance to the Ústí trauma center. Regional rescue service spokesman Prokop Voleník told ČTK on Thursday. Tereza Romanová, spokeswoman for the Královská Vinohrady hospital, told ČTK today that she could not provide more detailed information about the condition of the injured. The owner of the company, Petra Noska, has yet to be contacted by ČTK.
The incident happened on Thursday morning in Hornická Street. All workers from the hall were evacuated. According to the firefighters, there were 17 people. Evacuation of the surrounding area was not necessary. Several dozen firefighters from six units arrived at the company that inspects propane butane cylinders. “The residual propane butane in the bottle exploded,” regional fire department spokesman Lukáš Marvan said on Thursday. According to him, the Košťany volunteer fire department, which has a station near the company, was also on the scene.
