Lipník nad Bečvou (Přerovsk Region) – The police are investigating the action of police officers in Lipník nad Bečvou in the Přerovsk Region, who kicked a drunk man and stomped on his head last Saturday, on suspicion of the criminal offense of abuse of authority of a public official. So far, no one has been charged, police spokeswoman Miluše Zajícová told CTK today. The behavior of the couple was caught by witnesses on a mobile phone and the recording appeared on social networks, it was condemned by the head of the Lipnik police, Pavel Maloch, and the mayor of the city, Miloslav Přikryl. The mayor of CTK said that he is waiting for the results of the investigation, he did not rule out personnel measures.

“In the matter, we have initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion of the criminal offense of abuse of authority by a public official, which, according to the Criminal Code, is punishable by imprisonment from one to five years or a ban on activity,” said the police spokeswoman.
The incident happened on Saturday in a locality where, according to ČTK, there is a place called “feeder” by the locals, where people gather and drink. In the published video, police officers kick a lying man who lunged at them with his foot, and one of them stomps on his neck several times. The recording also contains a number of vulgarities.
According to ČTK, the drunken man had over three per million of alcohol and was finally taken to the detention station, according to the head of the police, Petr Maloch, he was not injured in the incident, and was examined by a doctor before he was taken away. According to him, the police officers are employed, but at the moment they are not on shift. “Their intervention was certainly not okay, we are waiting for the statement of the police, who are investigating the matter. And then we will decide how the employer will deal with it,” Maloch told ČTK. Mayor Přikryl described the policemen's behavior as deplorable. He, too, is waiting to see how the police will evaluate the situation. “And of course we will deal with it as possible, personally,” he added.
