Olomouc – The President of the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic (AK) Jan Doležal will defend his post at the head of this agricultural organization at the Electoral Assembly in Olomouc on Thursday. No presidential candidate has yet been registered. AK spokeswoman Barbora Pánková said this to ČTK today. Former chamber secretary Doležal would be elected its president in 2020, when he replaced Zdenek Jandejska in this position.

On Thursday in Olomouc, the Assembly of the AK will also elect new members of the presidium, which at its meetings prepares opinions on current topics in agriculture and documents for the meetings of the chamber's board of directors. At the Diet in Olomouc, the delegates will talk about the AK's priorities for the coming period and at the end they will adopt a resolution with the main demands. The government's consolidation package, which includes cuts in agricultural subsidies in the amount of 10.2 billion crowns, will probably also be discussed. They should decrease by this amount already next year.
The election of Doležal to head the chamber in 2020 continued the trend of recent years, when non-state agricultural organizations elect secretaries and executive officers as presidents and chairmen, as has happened at the Association of Private Agriculture and Jaroslav Šebek, the Agricultural Union of the Czech Republic and Martin Pýcha or the Food Chamber of the Czech Republic and Dana Večeřová.
