Přílepy (Kroměříž Region) – Craftsmen are continuing the reconstruction of the castle in Přílepy in Kroměříž Region, which began last year. It will contain a social hall, the offices of the municipal office and the library will also move into the historic building from the mid-19th century. The municipality wants to open the repaired monument this fall. The costs of the current repairs of the castle amount to approximately 35 million crowns. Roughly 15 million crowns will be covered by subsidies from the State Investment Support Fund, from which the municipality also draws an interest-free loan of ten million crowns, mayor Ivana Sehnalová (BEZPP, for the Association for Přílepy) told ČTK today.

The works mainly concern the interior spaces of the multi-story castle, which has been falling into disrepair since the 1990s. On the ground floor, people will be served by a social hall with a hall for serving refreshments. According to the mayor, the locals lacked similar facilities until now. The hall can be used, for example, for wedding ceremonies or balls. “For the organization of weddings and cultural events, the environment of the castle park is mostly used. And here we will connect smoothly,” said Sehnalová.
Offices and a library will also be moved from the building of the municipal office to the castle, and local associations will also have facilities there. Part of the work is the construction of new utility networks or the reconstruction of the historic entrance to the castle. “At the moment, we are carrying out drainage around the castle due to moisture. Floors are being poured above, linoleum will be laid over them,” an employee of the construction company told ČTK today. According to him, there will be parquet floors in the main hall and a small hall on the ground floor.
The municipality will release additional money to equip the interiors with furniture. It is also preparing to restore some historical elements, to which people can contribute through a public fundraiser announced in 2018. Details about it can be found on the municipality's website, according to the mayor, over half a million crowns have been collected so far on a transparent account.
In the second half of this year, Přílepy wants to start the reconstruction of the farm building in front of the castle. The estimated costs exceed 40 million crowns, the subsidy from the Integrated Regional Program amounts to almost 30 million crowns. The kindergarten will move from the municipal office to the building after the renovations are finished. Its capacity will increase from the current 28 to 48 children. “In the future, the building of the municipal office will become a fire station and facilities for municipal employees and equipment,” said the mayor.
For the future, the municipality is also preparing the reconstruction of the castle's facade or the modification of paved areas in its vicinity. Already in 2019, it invested approximately six million crowns in the repair of the roof.
The Neo-Renaissance castle with a prismatic tower surrounded by a valuable park was built in 1852 by the Seiler family on the site of a former fortress. It was nationalized after the Second World War. From the 1950s to the mid-1980s, the castle served as a maternity hospital, where almost 21,000 children were born. The gynecology-obstetrics department in the building operated until 1994, since then it has been unused. The village, home to roughly a thousand people, acquired the castle in the second half of the 1990s and spent many years looking for a use for it.
