Ostrava – The regional presidency of the ANO movement of the Moravian-Silesian region should today deal with the proposal to expel the governor and MP Ivo Vondrák from the movement. Vondrák, who some time ago resigned from the position of vice-chairman of the movement and left the ANO parliamentary club this week, was proposed by the movement's presidency. Vondrák already told ČTK that Friday's meeting of the regional presidency will be key to his decision whether he will stay in ANO or leave it himself.

In recent days, Ostrava mayor Tomáš Macura or his deputy Zuzana Bajgarová left the movement. Like Vondrák, they were critics of the movement and in the presidential election they did not vote for ANO chairman Andrej Babiš, but for his opponent Petar Pavl. It was criticized by leading representatives of the movement, for example the first vice-chairman of ANO Karel Havlíček and the vice-chairwoman of the movement and head of the parliamentary club Alena Schillerová.
Vondrák, who has been the governor of Moravia-Silesia since 2016, resigned from the position of vice-chairman of ANO on February 8. The leadership of the movement subsequently proposed his expulsion from ANO, which, according to the statutes, must also be dealt with by the Ostrava regional presidency and the regional presidency. The national presidency also demanded the expulsion of Macura and Bajgarová, but they left the movement before their expulsion was discussed. On Monday, the Ostrava presidency dealt with the proposal to expel Vondrák, which was confirmed by its chairman Richard Vereš. He did not publish the result of the meeting, referring to the fact that the regional presidency will still comment on the situation. Earlier, Vereš said that the opinions of the regional and regional presidency are not binding on the republican presidency, which decides on expulsion from the movement.
