Prague – Canadian defenseman Aaron Irving is a new addition to Sparta hockey players. He returns to the extra league after a one-year hiatus, between 2020 and 2022 he played for Litvínov for two seasons. Twenty-seven-year-old Irving will join Prague during summer training. “I'm really looking forward to it! Sparta is a name not only in European hockey, and I'm honored to be a part of it,” declared Irving.

Irving, a native of Edmonton, who also tasted the AHL during the overseas part of his career , played for Saipa after leaving the north of Bohemia and finished the year in Davos. He played in 42 games for Saipa and scored 23 points for five goals and 18 assists. In the Davos jersey, he made 16 starts and three assists, including the playoffs.

In addition to the Finnish and Swiss leagues, Irving also gained experience in the Swedish or Norwegian top competition. In the extra league, including elimination battles, he has played 107 games and 43 points thanks to 22 goals and 21 assists.

“We were already interested in Aaron Irving last season. He is a very good full-back with interesting experience, in addition right-hander, of which there is a shortage. We believe that he will fit into our team perfectly,” said member of the club's board Tomáš Divíšek, who is responsible for the sports department.
