An awareness campaign has been launched to promote “harmonious cohabitation” on the Lac-des-Nations promenade.

Notice to walkers, cyclists and in-line skaters who engage in their activities on the Lac-des-Nations promenade in Sherbrooke: the authorized speed increases from 10 to 20 km/h.

This speed increase is part of a campaign aimed at “harmonious coexistence” on this trail that borders the Lac des Nations. This is a two-year pilot project.

In a press release, the City indicates that the speed of 10 km/h did not meet the needs of users.

We take this opportunity to remind users of a few rules surrounding the use of the boardwalk. Thus, people are asked to walk in pairs, keep to the right and overtake with caution.

In the press release, it is indicated that the Service de police de Sherbrooke will ensure a presence on the promenade during the hot season in order to raise awareness, particularly with regard to the wearing of helmet which is mandatory when driving an electric vehicle and it is forbidden to have headphones in your ears or to walk a dog when driving at bicycle.

At the end of the pilot project, a development plan for active transportation on this trail will be made.

  • Wearing of a helmet in electric transport: $60 + fees
  • Wearing of a helmet is mandatory for underage cyclists: $35 + fees
  • Dog walking ban on bike: $35 + fees
  • Headphones ban on bike: $80 + fees
