Prague – Students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Economics (VŠE) will demonstrate against the dean of the faculty, Miroslav Ševčík, this afternoon. Due to dissatisfaction with his public appearance, including his presence at Saturday's anti-government demonstration, they want to call on him to resign, or to appeal to the faculty's academic senate to dismiss the dean. According to its organizers, the protest will take place in front of the university headquarters.

On Monday, Ševčík was already called on to resign for the same reasons by Petr Dvořák, rector of the University of Economics. Ševčík's appearance in public was also the topic of Tuesday's meeting of the management of Prague University. After that, Dvořák announced that he considered the most appropriate solution to be for Ševčík to be dismissed by the academic senate of the Faculty of Economics. According to the rector, the meeting of the faculty body will be held in about a week at the earliest, he said on Tuesday. If the faculty academic senate does not dismiss Ševčík, it wants to use the power to propose a recall on its own initiative. For this, he would need the approval of the academic senate of the entire university.
The current dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Economics stated that he does not see a reason for his dismissal. He claims that at the Saturday protest at the National Museum, where after the end of the anti-government demonstration some people tried to remove the Ukrainian flag from the building, he was only helping the injured. He also denied that he would harm the good name of VŠE, as his critics and the rector of the school claim. He added that at the rector's request, he limited his public appearances, stopped being an economic expert of the Tricolor movement and does not speak at anti-government demonstrations.
