Kyiv – The Ukrainian parliament today adopted a resolution declaring so-called racism to be the state ideology of Russia. The use of the neologism composed of the words Russia and fascism became widespread after the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022, and it is supposed to refer to the ideology and politics of Russia under the rule of President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the Russian edition of the BBC station.

“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine today adopted an important resolution condemning racism as an ideology and practice that is the basis of the state policy of the Russian Federation,” wrote the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, on Facebook.
The resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine describes Putin's regime as a “neo-imperial, totalitarian dictatorship that imitates the worst practices of the past and embodies the ideas of fascism and national socialism in a modern version of Russian fascism (racism)”. The resolution also calls on the UN and other international organizations, as well as the governments and parliaments of other countries, to condemn the “ideology, policy and practices of racism”. or culture in different languages of the world, and people could thus immediately associate Russia with the fascist regime, which Moscow verbally condemns, explains the BBC.
In April last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared at a press conference that in in the future, “racism as an ideology of modern Russia will take its place in history textbooks”. At the same time, several articles on racism were published by the well-known American historian Timothy Snyder.
The signs of racism, according to Stefanchuk, include militarism, the cult of leadership and the sacralization of state institutions, Russia's self-assertion through violent oppression, denial of the existence of other nations, or systematic violations principles of international law and territorial integrity of foreign countries.
